The 15-mile, three-lane road, set to open in late August, is meant to move morning and afternoon commuters to and from downtown.

Just wanted to say what a tremendous job you have done in getting the upper level up and running. How about looking at the opening hours on the Brandon end to accomodate those of use who commute from Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Fishawk (Macdill East) to Macdill AFB in the early morning hours. I think a 5:30AM opening would be ideal.

Why is all traffic forced off into downtown and not given the option of continuing west on the existing roadway?
It appears that everyone using the new roadway will be forced off to downtown and in order to continue their journey west toward MacDill the congested and slower Bayshore is the way to go.
I will continue using the old roadway. Did we really need the expense of an elevated express too (?).

Would it be too much to have expected a map of exactly how I get on and exactly where I will be when I get off. I have never heard of Meridian. I want to go to Kennedy. Will I be able to turn on Kennedy. The maps in the St. Petersburg Times are inconclusive, and I don’t get the Tampa Tribune. I guess I will be traveling on 60 into town this morning until someone in the Crosstown Expressway office wakes up. I’m not about to get on the expressway not knowing where I am going.

Just a coincidence, I’m sure, that trucks will be discouraged from using that elevated section. Maybe they can convert it into an anti-carpool lane: only vehicles with one passenger can use it. Or lease it to Busch Gardens as their next thrill ride.

This whole situation stinks. First they jacked up the rates on the expressway just as the began. The construction giving us not only poor service by higher cost to commute. The process has dragged on for years, and even till this day OCt 24th 06. The expressway is one laned on the lower section headed eastbound and restricte d westbound as well. When will this project ever be over!!
